Off Broadway Dance Theatre and the Dawson County Arts Council are thrilled to announce AUDITIONS for the World Premiere Showcase of Music Theatre International's WINNIE THE POOH, KIDS!
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase musical selections from a NEW MTI SHOW in front of a crowd of thousands at the Junior Theater Festival on January 15, 2011.
CASTING INFORMATION
"Winnie the Pooh" is part of the "Kids Collection" of shows available from MTI; they are 30 minute productions geared towards young performers - younger than the "Broadway Junior" collection of shows that many children's theatres perform.
Therefore, for the lead roles we are looking for very young performers (grades K-3) who have a "cute" factor. Kids at the older end of the spectrum (grades 4-6) are important to this production, but will likely be cast as ensemble players.
Due to the short, intense rehearsal schedule, this opportunity is recommended for experienced performers. For kids with more limited experience or those new to performing, our production of Cinderella is the perfect choice. |
AUDITION DATE AND REQUIREMENTS
Auditions will be held Saturday, September 25 from 2 - 6 pm
at Off Broadway Dance Theatre in Alpharetta.
Auditionees should:
- Be between the ages of 6 - 12 (as of 1/15/11)
- Bring a cd with a prepared audition song (music only/no vocals), preferably cut to the 16 bars.
- Bring a resume and headshot
- Be dressed for a movement audition

Q. What are the costs involved?
A. Off Broadway is requesting a $15 (fifteen dollar) fee from each participant to cover costumes for the performance.
Music Theatre International, the ones who put together the Junior Theatre Festival, requires all attendees to pay a $125 cover charge. This fee includes performances, workshops, meet and greets with special guests, and a ticket to "Beauty and the Beast" at the Fox Theatre. A parental chaperone is required for each child, unless other arrangements have been made, and the $125 charge applies to them as well. (Total for 1 child and 1 parent = $250 + $15 = $265)

Q. Is there a discount if I bring several family members and friends to the event?
A. Unfortunately, no. Per MTI, the fee to attend is $125 per person.

Q. Why is the Pooh participation fee $50 less than the Millie JTF fee?
A. The additional $50 for Millie goes to cover the adjudication. Pooh is a performance only, not a competition piece.

Q. What if I'm already participating in JTF in Thoroughly Modern Millie?
A. If you meet the age requirement and criteria we would love to have you audition for Pooh. If cast in both, you would pay just the $175 for Millie (plus $125 per parent/sibling).

Q. When will rehearsals be held?
A. Rehearsals will be held at Off Broadway Dance Theatre on Saturday afternoons throughout October/November, and some Sunday afternoons in December/January. All rehearsals are mandatory.

Q. Will there be rehearsals over the holidays?
A. Yes - Because we are on a condensed schedule there will likely be rehearsals throughout the Christmas holiday.

Q. What is the call time for the Junior Theatre Festival?
A. Actors must be available for a rehearsal at the Galleria on Friday, January 14, most likely in the morning. A run-through with the other groups will be held that afternoon. (NOTE: This is a school day)
The call time for Saturday is TBD, however, since you would be paying for JTF we suggest that you be there early to take full advantage of the event's activities.
