Special congratulations to Alex Sherwin (as The Cat in the Hat), Owen Smith(as the Sour Kangaroo), Ali Holliday (as Mayzie La Bird) and Barrett Crowder (as Horton), for winning "Outstanding Performance by an Actor/Actress" in their performance of "Seussical - The Musical" at the 2010 National Performing Arts Festival in Orlando.
KAELYN GREEN
Kaelyn Green is an accomplished dancer, singer and actor. Kaelyn is a member of OBD's competition dance team and is currently training in ballet, Broadway and lyrical.
Kaelyn's musical accomplishments include performing at the Oklahoma Circle the State with Song competition as well as featured solos in several school productions.
Kaelyn's acting credits include a school production of "The Pirates of Penzance" and OBD's production of "Beauty and the Beast". She will perform this fall in "Thoroughly Modern Millie."
Her favorite musical is "The Wiz" and she hopes one day to star as Dorothy.
ALEXANDRA ARASI
Alexandra Arasi was the 2009 recipient of Off Broadway's "Rising Star" award. This honor is given to dance and musical theatre students who exhibit all around talent, enthusiasm and the most potential.
Allie has been taking dance classes at OBD since her preschool days including ballet, tap, modern and jazz. She especially loves musical theatre and has been in the cast of every Off Broadway Children's Theatre production including Annie, Seussical, Dear Edwina, Honk, and Alice in Wonderland.
BARRETT CROWDER
Barrett Crowder was chosen to participate in the 9th District Honors Chorus at Brenau University in November, 2009.
A member of the Off Broadway Kids Musical Theatre Troupe, in 2010 Barrett performed as "Horton, the Elephant" in the OBD Kids' production of "Seussical, The Musical," and won 'Outstanding Performance by an Actor" at the National Performing Arts Festival competition in Orlando. This year he performs as Aladdin and will take that performance to Disney in 2011.
Barrett has appeared as Trevor Graydon in Off Broadway Children's Theatre's production of Thoroughly Modern Millie (Nov 2010); as Prince Daft in The Bachelor King (Spring 2009); and also enjoyed performing in Oklahoma! and The King and I in school productions over the past several years.
McKENZIE KURTZ
McKenzie Kurtz was chosen to perform in a benefit concert for the Broadway Dreams Foundation on Broadway in New York City in November 2009.
McKenzie was in the opening number performing "Gimme Gimme" with Kate Shindle, Paul Canaan, Jeremy Schonfeld and many other famous Broadway faces.
BEN HEPBURN
Ben Hepburn was one of two students from Northwestern Middle School invited to participate in the Georgia Music Educators Association's "All State Chorus" festival. The invitation was based on his audition score.
Ben joined the State's top choral students in Savannah for the festival in February 2010.
ADRIANA DeCUBELLIS
Adriana DeCubellis was recently awarded the 2009 Georgia Country Music Association's “Vocalist of the Year” and “Most Promising Entertainer of the Year.”
Adriana is a lifelong dancer who has made the move into musical theatre. Recent roles include "Erzulie - Goddess of Love" in The Off Broadway Kids Musical Theatre Troupe's production of "Once on This Island;" "Belle" in the Off Broadway Children's Theatre's production of "Beauty and the Beast" and "Alice" in "Alice in Wonderland."
